At the latest Hackathon 10 at the beginning of April, students from the Digital Business Bachelor's degree program at THI Business School impressively demonstrated their skills in developing digital innovations. 30 of the 90 participants came from the program and took up the challenge of designing practical solutions for companies from Region 10.
Real challenges, real impact
Under the expert supervision of degree program director Prof. Dr Christian Locher and with the support of Ganesh Ramakrishna from the THI Startup Center, the students worked in interdisciplinary teams on eight demanding challenges. What was special about this format was that the problems came directly from regional entrepreneurs and related to real business challenges that required creative and digital solutions.
This practice-oriented approach is a central element of the Digital Business B.A. program at THI Business School. "Instead of grey theory, our students generate direct impact for the regional economy and gain valuable practical experience," explains Prof. Dr Locher. "This is exactly what our degree program is all about: enabling students to actively learn and apply the management of digital transformation."
Winning team "Physiolib" and other promising concepts
The "Physiolib" team emerged victorious from the intense competition. The group developed a platform designed to significantly reduce the workload of physiotherapy specialists in terms of organisation and documentation, allowing them to focus more on treating their patients. The jury praised the high practical relevance and potential added value of the solution.
In addition to the winning project, numerous other remarkable solutions were developed. These include an AI-based application to optimise applicant management and a digital process to simplify parking discounts for customers of Ingolstadt's city centre shops. Many of the concepts are so practical that some of them could be pursued or applied directly in the participating companies.
Bridge between studies and business
Hackathon 10 not only offered participants an intensive learning experience in the field of digital innovation, but also acted as an important interface to the regional economy. It created contacts and opened doors for future activities, whether in the form of internships, final theses or joint projects.
The successful participation of the students is an excellent example of how the THI Business School successfully combines applied teaching and the strengthening of regional innovative power.
