Two lecturers and a PhD student visited THI-InES in the last quarter of 2024 as part of the RE.Act project, which aims to promote renewable energy education and research in Central Asia, with a focus on the water-energy nexus. The visitors included Dr Ermek Baibagyshov from Naryn State University (NSU) in Kyrgyzstan and Dr Dishod Kodirov and PhD student Alisher Davirov from TIIAME-NRU in Uzbekistan.
Their stay offered a mix of learning and hands-on experience, with guests attending renewable energy lectures, visiting the university's laboratories and taking part in several informative excursions. These trips provided real-world examples of renewable energy in action, including visits to an agri-PV plant, demonstrations of heat pumps in agriculture, and even a look at how the Ingolstadt Stadium manages its heating and cooling.
The visitors also shared their own expertise with THI-InES: Dr Baibagyshov introduced NSU to THI-InES staff, highlighting the common research interests between the two universities and opening doors for future collaboration. Meanwhile, Dr Kodirov gave a lecture to undergraduate students on the potential of new energy sources in Uzbekistan. As another element of our enriching information exchange, PhD student Alisher Davirov presented his research at THI-InES, contributing to the knowledge exchange within the RE.Act project.
THI-InES is looking forward to continuing these valuable exchanges and welcoming more guests in 2025 as part of the RE.Act project. These exchange visits are a key part of the Re.Act project, creating opportunities for researchers and lecturers to collaborate between Germany and Central Asia.
