Shortly before the end of the year, our doctoral student Andreas Rauscher traveled to Naples. The ESARS-ITEC conference took place here from 26 to 29 November 2020, focusing on research into the electrification of various means of transport (aircraft, ships, trains, cars). The venue was the conference center of the University of Napoli Federico II with a view of the Gulf of Naples and the Castel dell'Ovo.

On the third day of the conference, Andreas Rauscher presented his findings in the “Road Vehicles” session. In his presentation entitled “Optimization of Sensor Setup and Filter Frequency for End-of-Line Partial Discharge Testing of Electrical Machines”, he compared the performance of different sensors for detecting partial discharges in electrical machines. A method for determining the optimum filter frequency for the respective sensor was also presented.

Special highlights of the supporting program included the welcome party at the Reale Yacht Club on 26 November and the gala dinner at the D'Angelo Restaurant with plenty of Italian flair.
