Doctoral Centre AI/Computer Science
The Doctoral Centre Artificial Intelligence/Computer Science, staffed by 22 professors with strong research skills, comprises the thematic clusters Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Human Machine Interaction and Social Implications of AI/Computer Science. In the Artificial Intelligence thematic cluster, which forms the main focus of the research area, scientists are conducting research on the use of AI methods for automated driving and flying, autonomous traffic control, automated production and manufacturing processes and AI medicine.
In the Computer Engineering thematic cluster, research is conducted on cyber-physical systems, IT security in the vehicle sector, automation technology, Car2X communication, sensor technology, signal and image processing and adaptive battery control systems. In the Human Machine Interaction thematic cluster, research is conducted on human-machine relationships, user experience design and the methods of image, speech and text understanding.
In the thematic cluster Social Implications of AI/Informatics, research is conducted on the ethical implications of AI, on AI business models or on technology management. In organisational terms, research is essentially located in the research institutes AImotion Bavaria, CARISSMA and IIMo. The doctoral centre awards the titles Doctor of Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Dr. phil.).
