Prof. Dr Gerhard Elsbacher: New addition to the team of professors at the Doctoral Centre for AI/Computer Science

We are delighted to welcome Prof Dr Gerhard Elsbacher to the team of professors at the Doctoral School at TH Ingolstadt. He will use his expertise to supervise doctoral students in the AI/Computer Science Doctoral Centre.

Prof Elsbacher has extensive scientific experience in the research areas of AI-supported autonomous flying, intelligent control and navigation for unmanned aerial systems and cooperative flying. In addition to his professorship for aeronautical engineering and product development at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TH Ingolstadt, he heads the Technology Centre (TTZ) Unmanned Aerial Systems in Manching.

Before Prof Elsbacher was appointed to the TH Ingolstadt in 2022, he was Operations Director at MBDA Germany and a member of the Executive Board, where he was responsible for development, production and quality management. He also had overarching responsibility for digitalisation, skills and improvement in the MBDA Group's engineering department. 
After studying electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich, he completed his doctorate at the Institute for Flexible Automation at the Vienna University of Technology.
