According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 1.3 million people die in road accidents worldwide every year; around 50 million people are injured. Accidents with a small vehicle overlap are playing an increasingly important role. When two vehicles collide, their full width does not overlap. The resulting low energy absorption by the car body often leads to serious to fatal injuries to the occupants. Predictive sensors (camera, radar) enable earlier assessment of potentially dangerous traffic situations and intervention in vehicle guidance to mitigate the consequences of accidents.
