The kick-off event will take place on Tuesday, 29 April 2025, at 6.30 pm on the THI campus (room G215). Dr Karl Runge, Managing Director of Freudenberg e-Power Systems from Munich, will talk about the potential of fuel cells in the maritime sector. Under the title ‘Fuel cells - a contribution to more climate-friendly shipping’, he will show how low-emission propulsion systems can be developed by combining batteries and hydrogen technologies - and what opportunities this opens up for passenger and freight transport. The following presentations will also address current challenges and present innovative solutions. On 13 May, Melanie Werner, process engineer at Bühler GmbH in Beilngries, will report on sustainability in the food and animal feed industry, with a particular focus on the energy transition in malting plants. On 20 May, the focus will be on the practical implementation of climate-friendly concepts in the region: Dr Sebastian Brandmayr, Technical Director of Stadtwerke Schrobenhausen, will present strategies relating to heating, wind power, and living space. All lectures begin on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm on the THI campus and are also broadcast online via Zoom. Participation is free of charge and no registration is required. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to exchange ideas with the speakers. The series is organised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sabine Bschorer, Professor of Energy Technology and Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
